What the?

I hate it when my kids say that, but that's exactly what came out of my mouth when I woke up this morning and looked out to find this. Yuck.

Can you believe this??? I'm so tired of it. Sure, it was pretty, but come on already!!!!

Well, the kids liked it!

Cate and Ethan made a "fruity-face" snowman. (Those are grape eyes and a banana mouth, along with a traditional carrot nose.)

Hudson and Cate made snow angels.

Cate & Hudson played on the swings. (Ethan did too, but I didn't get a picture of him in action. Funny story: He asked me for an "under doggy". When I did it, he must not have been holding on tight enough because as soon as I ran under him I looked back to see him shoot off the back of the swing and land flat on his back under that oak tree!! Good thing there was 6 inches of snow to break his fall!)

* The kids had a half day today, which was nice that they got more time to play outside. Cate and I waited until the boys came home from school so we could all go out together. Alex, unfortunately, was confined to the couch still... she has the flu. Although, she must be on the mend as she found the energy to fight with Hudson this afternoon.

NYC in Pictures

And the Oscar Goes to ......

This picture is from our quickie trip into NYC on Monday. We took the train into the city, walked around a bit, saw Rockefellor Center and St. PAtrick's Cathedral, had lunch at the ESPN Zone and got lost on the subway. This is Alex practicing for someday when she receives a real Oscar. While Mom and Dad lingered over their lunch, Meredith had all the boys upstairs playing games at the ESPN Zone (bless her!) Alex and I ran down to the free Oscar display. There were 50 Oscars on display (I just read somewhere that they are not the Oscars that are being handed out on Sunday- those have been sent off for engraving- but these were "extras".) What Alex is holding is exactly like what will be presented to the Oscar winners. I didn't lift it, but she said it was heavy.

The wacky hair we had....school we didn't. At first we were told there was a one hour delay for school starting, so we all thought "Cool! Extra time to do wacky hair!!" So I got 2 of the 3 hair-do's done. Then word came (at 7:56am) that school was cancelled, but I didn't want Ethan to feel left out, so we had our own wacky hair day!

"Snow Pants!"

Ethan's kindergarten class had their Winter Celebration on Friday. It was cute...but it was like deja vu... they did the same 5 songs, ate the same snack and did the same project that Alex and Hudson also did back in the day. They sang about what to wear when it is cold oustide, and wore hats as their costume. Ethan was sweating in his.

So far, so good....

Resolution #8 is done! I made a quilt for Alex. It's not fancy. It's not perfect. But she likes it and I had fun making it. We chose the fabrics together, greens and pinks mostly... and we will be painting her room green soon to match. We also made her a new (huge) bulletin board using some of the same pink fabric that is in the quilt. Can you believe it?? She finally likes pink!
